Denmark Pharmacist Penny Gooding is now a national champion. Over the weekend in Cairns, far north Queensland, Penny won her age division in the National Iron Woman event in a time of 10 hours, 31 minutes and 19 seconds. The event consists of a 3.0km swim, then 180 kms on a bike and then a run which is the full marathon 42 kms. The second placed competitor finished only 41 seconds behind in this grueling event.
The top four finishers qualify for the World Championship to be held in October this year in Kona Hawaii. The Voice has been advised that Penny will compete in Hawaii and we wish her success.
