In accordance with Section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, notice is hereby given that the Shire of Denmark proposes to impose differential general rates in the 2019/2020 financial year.
The property valuations are the basis on which municipal rates are calculated, with UV valuations undertaken annually and the GRV valuations undertaken every four years (re-valuation undertaken and applies 1 July 2019). The proposed rates in the dollar and minimum rates shown in the table below take the new valuations into consideration.
The Shire of Denmark provides services to a diverse region consisting of many different land zones and uses. In order to reflect this diversity and to ensure that rating levels are fair and equitable, Council proposes to impose different rate charges for different types of properties to ensure the Shire of Denmark is able to equitably provide various facilities, services and infrastructure to electors, property owners, residents and visitors.
A statement of objectives and reasons for adopting these rates is available for inspection at the Shire of Denmark Administration Centre, between 9:00 am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday. A copy is also available on the website: www.denmark.wa.gov.au/differential-rating-in-the-shire-of-denmark.aspx
