THE Mount Barker Wildflower and Nature Photography Competition is on again with a tidy prize pool on offer.
Nearly $2000 is up for grabs across five categories, which is sure to entice keen shutterbugs.
The competition is run by a small, but dedicated committee of volunteers. Committee member David Aldred said the aim of the competition was to encourage photographers of all levels of ability to submit photos at low cost, all relating to wildflowers or nature.
Each entry then forms part of a 10-day exhibition. Judging is undertaken by qualified judges who pick out the top third photos in each category, which are acknowledged with an acceptance award. From these, entries that really catch the judge’s eyes progress to a merit award, and then, a final winner is chosen.
The competition and exhibition are funded by sponsorships and donations, without which the competition could not be held. Mr Aldred implored keen photographers of any skill level, and nature-lovers to enter the competition. He said feedback was available during the exhibition from committee members.
