WHILE attending a local welfare check last week Mount Barker police discovered a woman missing.
Following faint tyre tracks they came to a remote location where a woman lay needing urgent medical assistance, and a vehicle nearby.
Despite limited radio and mobile phone reception senior constable Alan Somerville and constable Kai Panton acted swiftly to alert an ambulance when they discovered that the woman was unconscious and had no detectable pulse.
Ambulance officers arrived soon after and performed CPR, getting the woman breathing, reestablishing a pulse and stabilising her condition before a helicopter arrived to take her to Bunbury hospital.
The police officers have been lauded for their swift and effective response, and quick-thinking action.
The woman is understood to be in an induced coma and beginning to show signs of improvement.
