It appears likely that the federal government will legislate to require new quadbikes to be fitted with rollover protection.
More than 130 people have died in quad bike accidents in the past eight years, with 60 percent caused by rollovers.
Pressure from farming and medical groups led the ACCC to produce a report in March that recommended mandatory protection devices be fitted to all new quadbikes within two years.
In response leading manufacturers Honda and Yamaha have threatened to pull out of the Australian market.
