Sober Super Hero makes the finals

DENMARK’S Roadwise Committee was one of three finalists at this year’s WA Regional Safety Award, held in Perth last week.

The committee was recognised for its ‘Sober Super Hero’ campaign promoting road safety among young drivers.

The initiative targets P-platers and other young drivers by addressing the dangers of driving after consuming alcohol.

Sober Super Hero promotes the ‘designated driver’ concept, rewarding responsible behaviour by awarding vouchers donated by local businesses and community members.

The campaign last year ran from December to Easter, and resulted in no chargeable drink-driving offences and no reported fatalities or serious injuries caused by traffic crashes.

The committee will run the campaign again from next December to February 2020, and is seeking donations from the community to assist in the rewards.
